Mercado Libre profit calculator

It accounts for more than the marketplace fees: logistics, import duty, customs clearance, the fixed fee on low-priced items, and turnover taxes. Six countries, the math runs in your browser, and nothing is sent anywhere.

About test batch size

The calculator works out the unit economics for the batch you enter — a single SKU or the whole shipment. A batch that is too small will not pay back the logistics and the launch, so we size the test shipment around the specific product. Send us your numbers and we will produce an exact breakdown within 24 hours.

Rates and costs

Preset by country and category. You can change them for your product.

Rates, exchange rates, and thresholds are preset by country and category and are updated as the platform's terms change. Any value can be adjusted for your product.

Breakdown of the retail price
Where every dollar of revenue goes. Bar length is proportional to the share of the price.
Cash cycle
How much cash is tied up and for how long. Recoverable taxes don't count towards profit, but they sit in working capital.
Shipping modes compared
The same batch by three different routes.
The same product across six countries
Different fees, thresholds, and taxes on the same inputs.

Save this calculation

We'll send you the calculation with every parameter, so you don't have to set the sliders again.

Check the niche

The calculator handles the economics. Demand, competitors, and category volumes are what the analytics show.

How profit is calculated

Unit cost = purchase price + freight and insurance per unit + import duty + customs clearance.

Deducted from the selling price: the category selling fee, the fixed fee (if the price is below the free-shipping threshold), the country's VAT on the commission, delivery to the buyer, the advertising budget, losses on returns, and turnover taxes where they apply.

Part of the VAT paid is refunded to a registered importer — the refund share differs by country and is accounted for on a separate line. The result is profit per unit and margin as a percentage of revenue.

What the calculator accounts for, and what it cannot know

The calculator works out a product's unit economics for six Latin American countries: purchase price, international freight and insurance, import duty and customs clearance, marketplace commission and fixed fee, VAT in the country of sale, delivery to the buyer, advertising budget, and the returns rate. The math runs directly in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere unless you ask us to send you the result.

The rates in the calculator match the marketplace and customs terms in each country: they are compiled from open sources, with links given on the country pages. Exchange rates and the fixed-fee brackets change, so treat the result as an order-of-magnitude reference rather than a final quote.

What the calculator cannot know: the actual duty rate for your tariff code before classification, the cost of certification and labeling in certain categories, seasonal swings in demand, and how competitive your niche is. Those need a manual check — we do it free of charge within 24 hours and send you a calculation with the actual rates for your category.

If the result comes out close to zero, do not close the tab just yet: what usually rescues the economics is not a lower purchase price but work on packaging weight and dimensions, moving into a different price bracket, or selling as a bundle. Write to us and we will look at what can be done with your specific product.
